How to set a Discord Channel as NSFW

In discord, Age-gating a channel ensures that viewers are aware about the adult nature of the content they are about to see. A channel may be age-gated for various reasons often ranging from offensive language, sensitive topics or imagery.

Due to the wide variety of content we cater, we often require users to use commands or features in age-gated channels to ensure safety. This works hand-in-hand with our great efforts to ensure that all interactions abide by Discord’s Community Guidelines.

Previously, age-gating is also referred to as “NSFW”, but in this guide, the terms are used interchangeably as they refer to the same thing.

On the Desktop or Web app:

  1. Head over to the channel settings by going into the channel list (on the left) and click “Edit Channel”

    In iOS or Apple Devices:

Ever since April 2021, Apple enforced content restrictions for Discord to remain in the App Store. As a result, Discord on iOS has blocked non-moderators from access to NSFW-oriented servers and the creation of NSFW channels.

That is all, have fun and keep safe!
