The basics of using commands
An introduction to how commands work and how to read command documentation
Explore our diverse features and learn how to enhance your Discord server.
This guide shows you how to prevent members of a specific Discord server from sending you direct messages (DMs). This is a useful Discord feature that allows you to control who can contact you directly. In our Discord Community, this setting is best combined with DM Roles, to enforce your preferences.
Message requests are a list of members trying to send DMs to you. They will not be able to send messages to your inbox unless you accept / respond to the request. You may also choose the “ignore” option for message requests.
Accounts you have already added as a friend will be able to message you directly without going into message requests.

This setting prevents new DMs from non-friends. If you already have a conversation going with someone from that server, they will still be able to message you. To prevent them from messaging you entirely, you may Block the user.
At the Succubus Cafe, we respect your preferences. We offer “DM Roles” (like “Ask Before DMing,” “DMs Open,” or “DMs Closed”) so you can let other members know your DM preferences. These roles are a way to communicate your preferences to others. Combining these roles with Discord’s built-in settings gives you greater control.
